SMA National Stage Management Awards make a welcome return in 2024 at ABTT Theatre Show Alexandra Palace – 5th June 2024 at 1 :30 PM with drinks reception following . (ABTT Theatre Show is 5-6 June 2024).
Nominations are open for all stage and events managers in UK (and Ireland) NOT just members and are welcome from all theatre and events professionals who wish to recognise exceptional talent and work by stage and events managers in shows, events or a season between May 2023 to May 2024 (please contact SMA to nominate shows and teams in 2022 which may be included due to the COVID hiatus).
In 2024 the awards categories are as follows:
New Entrant Award (including for final year grads in vocational training and all entrants to the industry since May 2022. For a significant and notable start in stage management work and / or exceptional contribution and skills in theatre shows and live events
SMA Stage Management Team Award for regional and subsidised theatre and live events
For teams of any size distinguishing themselves through excellent teamwork (as appropriate) and skills and performance above the usual high standard in a show or season ( Qualifying period May 2023 – May 2024- with consideration for nominations for 2022.)
SMA Stage Management Team Award to West End and Commercial touring and Large scale live events. For teams of any size distinguishing themselves through excellent teamwork and exceptional skills and performance above the normal high standard in a show or season. ( Qualifying period May 2023 – May 2024- with consideration for nominations for 2022.)
SMA Stage Management Achievement Award for Fringe and Small Scale. For teams and individual SMs showing exceptional skills and performance in small scale theatre shows and festivals and live events (including touring and children’s shows) where the creative use of scarce resources and different challenges and exceptional achievement in smaller scale work will be taken into account and recognised.
SMA David Ayliff Award for Lifetime Achievement in Stage Management For exceptional work and a lasting legacy over a working lifetime in stage or events management and / or training and mentoring.
All SMA and fellow AAPTLE association members, all nominees , all nominators, plus supporters and colleagues will be invited to the ceremony (subject to capacity).
